Three Men Loading Rice On The Mekong by Sylvia Barnes

<< Previous Item Next Item >>

ARTIST NOTES: This amazing scene was spotted when coming around a bend on a boat on the Mekong. The slightly built men were running up and down the hot sand banks carrying heavy sacks of rice from the truck to boats on the river. Most of the men were only wearing thongs on their feet while some were bare footed.

Artist: Sylvia Barnes

After retiring from the full-time work force I have been able to pursue my love of art and in particular painting.  There is great pleasure in visiting the many and diverse art galleries in Melbourne.

I have completed three years studying, practicing and pursuing my passion in visual arts at the CAE in Melbourne.  Although my major interest is painting I also enjoy printmaking with wood engraving and lino plates.

Recent submissions to several art shows and exhibitions have been well received and have influenced my choice of current and future works.  I enjoy depicting scenes in every day life while out and about and in  my neighbourhood.

I look forward to submitting my art works for the pleasure of fellow art lovers and receiving constructive criticism.
