I worked as a photographer and photographic restoration artist in the early 1980's.
I always wanted to try painting however never had professional training. I tried different classes which were very frustrating until I was recommended Sandy Baker at Long Island Group. Sandy taught realism and the practical aspects of painting. This was the turning point for me and I really wanted to explore and paint more. I found the love of oil as my preferred medium and the portrayal of flowers.
After raising my family I was able to pursue my passion of painting. In 1990 was a highlight for myself when I sold at "Camberwell Art Show". Since then I have sold other works there and around the Mornington Peninsula and won a few awards.
In 2004 I was invited to join a local group the "Peninsula Palettes". We had small shows and regular exhibitions at Dromana Art Gallery. I joined Peninsula Art Society and attended many demonstrations from other artists to advance my understanding of a good painting.
From 2012-2015 due to illness I was again away from art. In 2015 with the encouragement of Peninsula Art Society friends I joined Glenn Hoyle's art class and I've been there ever since. |
